Family Planning and Women
The continuing increase of population in many nations posits a number of consequences, thus the pressing issue involving family planning has surfaced. And one important component in family planning issues is the role of the women or the mother in laying out the plans for starting a family. It has been an issue that a smaller family is ideal, while many are against this notion. With this, family planning methods have been instituted and the couples are given the freedom to choose their methods of contraception.

However, issues arise as to the unmet needs of the family planning services, including the lack or poor quality of services, social and technology issues, and other barriers. To counter these negative impact, the department of the reproductive health and research (RHR) has established four pillars: increasing the availability of high-quality services; broadening the range of safe, effective, acceptable and affordable family planning and infertility technologies and interventions that is available to all women and men; strengthening the capacity of national health systems to ensure the availability of high-quality and sustainable family planning programmes and services in resource-poor settings; and promoting an environment at international level that is supportive of family planning (source: WHO).
